Route

Huts, cols & altitudes

The sunny southern Alps along the Italian border: from Modane to the Refuge du Thabor, down the Clarée to Plampinet, Montgenèvre and the fortified town of Briançon, through the Queyras regional park (Brunissard, Château-Queyras, Ceillac), over the Col Girardin (the section's high point) to Maljasset in the upper Ubaye, and on to Fouillouse and Larche. Weather risk is afternoon thunderstorms, snow on the Thabor and Girardin sides early in summer, and heat on the lower stages.
