Huts, cols & altitudes

The highest and wildest stretch of the GR10, from Cauterets over the Col de Riou to Luz-Saint-Sauveur and Barèges, through the Néouvielle nature reserve (Col de Madamète, Lac d'Orédon), the Col de Portet down to the Aure valley, over the Col d'Azet to Germ, the Couret d'Esquierry to the Granges d'Astau, Lac d'Oô and Refuge d'Espingo, then the Coume de Bourg ridge to Superbagnères and Bagnères-de-Luchon. Weather risk is afternoon thunderstorms, low cloud and navigation on the high cols, and snow on north-facing slopes early in the season.

How is the GR10 — Central Pyrenees score calculated?
Hourly forecasts for every waypoint, corrected to its real altitude (MET Norway Locationforecast), feed six factors: weather on the cols (wind, cold, cloud, thunderstorms), snow and avalanche danger, rain against published European landslide thresholds, trail weather, views and access. Météo-France orange/red warnings, flood vigilance and credible closure reports cap the score.
