FAQ
Manaslu Circuit questions
- Is the Manaslu Circuit open right now?
- A closure was reported on 12 Oct (The Kathmandu Post): "Torrent of black mud and rocks engulfs settlements along Budhigandaki". Check the live page for reopening reports.
- When is the best time to trek the Manaslu Circuit?
- The most stable seasons are Oct – Nov and Mar – May. Late-monsoon storms (late September to mid-October) can still bring heavy snow high up and landslides lower down.
- How high is the Manaslu Circuit?
- The highest point is 5,106 m. Above 3,000 m, raise your sleeping altitude by no more than about 500 m a night and add a rest day every 3–4 days.
- Which permits do I need for the Manaslu Circuit?
- Manaslu Restricted Area Permit; MCAP entry permit; ACAP entry permit. Rules change — confirm with the Nepal Tourism Board.
- How is the Manaslu Circuit trek score calculated?
- Hourly forecasts for every waypoint, corrected to real altitude, feed six factors: high-point conditions during the pre-dawn window, snow and pass status, landslide risk against the Nepal Himalaya rainfall threshold, trail weather, mountain views and access. Reported closures and severe hazards cap the score.
